    L MELICIANUM is not clear. L METIANUM might be (MALUM) MATIANUM but hardly a variant of MELANUM (cf. Quinn 1956, note on 37,12), which is not documented anywhere. Also cf. →apuldor.

    The attribute milsc 'sweet, mild', which is used to define →æppel (1), denotes a different, not identifyable subspecies, or a degree of ripeness.

    NICALALBUM and NICOLAOS denote some kind of date. Also cf. →palm-æppel.
