Equally to be corrected: BT, s.v. sund-dēaw "Sundew remains as a name for drosera rotundifolia".
We second BT's suggestion (cf. their entry sund-dēw.) that the OE plant name is a literal translation of L ROS MARINUS 'sea dew, Meerestau'; Marzell (2000,2,168) argues along the same line. ModE sundew[1] (first recorded 1578, cf. OED) is - like ML ROS SOLIS[2] - most probably analogue to NHG Sonnentau, which itself could be a reinterpredation of NHG Sindau[3] 'Immertau' (related to sin- cf. s.vv. →sin-grēne, →sin-fulle; cf. Marz 2000,2,168). The record "sunddēaw, ? read sunndēaw, see OED s.v. sundew" in BTC has to be deleted, especially because the OED does not claim any connection of OE sun-dēaw and ModE sundew.
