    Cf. for example Pheifer (1974,114, n.819); and also →sin-grēne. On BARBIUM cf. Laud, n.192: "BARBARIUM may be interpreted BARBA IOUIS, which is identified in Laud with SEMPERVIVUS and AIZON." EPTAFOLIUM, etc. is a corrupted Gk έπτάφυλλον and L SEPTEFOLIUM, Potentilla erecta L. (cf. →seofon-lēafe); Pheifer (n.387) assumes: "[...] its [= epta-folium] identification with sinfullæ 'house-leek' [...] may be due to graphic similarity." In my opinion it is more likely that EPTAFOLIUM = SEPTEFOLIUM was simply confused with SEMPERFOLIUM, SEMPERFLORIUM, which are synonymous with SEMPERVIVUM (cf. Howald / Sigerist 1927,124,11). PALIURUS, etc. cf. s.v. →fulle.
