    This identification is too specific, the different L glosses suggest that the OE plant name was used to denote several plants with a moorland habitat.

    Cf. Pheifer, n.269: "CALOMA(U)CUS= Gr. καλυμαύκιον 'cap' [...] Cp. haet, Ld. het is therefore the correct reading, and Hl. GENESTA (-ISTA) must be a retranslation of hæþ" Meritt agrees with this interpretation (cf. 1976,110ff).
