    GLUMULA is diminutive to GLUMA 'corn husk, Getreideschale'; in BTS the gloss gewrid is recorded s.v. wrīþan 'turn, wind, bind, drehen, winden, binden' and is explained with "what is wrapped about an object, a covering, husk" (also cf. HEW).

    According to Stryker the gloss belongs to Ald. 249,9 GRANIGERA SPICARUM GLUMULA GERMINANTES and I think that it could even be that gewrīd actualy belongs to GERMINANTES; L GERMO means FRUTESCO 'germinate, sprout, keimen, sprossen', which in the same glossary is translated with →wrīdian and →þūfian. Rusche (1996,642) suggests: "It seems far more preferable to take both instances of gewrid (here and at F361) [cf. →gewrīd (1)] as the same word, derived from gewridan, 'to grow, thrive, flourish' and to define it as 'something which has grown'. This definition fits at F361 and in the context here."
