  • Comment on (A): -, oak, a species of ~, Eiche, eine Art von ~

Native to Britain are Quercus robur L., pedunculate oak, Stieleiche, and Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl., sesslile oak, Traubeneiche (cf. Stace 1997,120f.). The DOE suggests Quercus ilex L., evergreen oak, Stein-Eiche, which is native to the Mediterranean, but this species was not introduced before the 16th century (cf. Forestry Commission 2004, No.6531).
