    HA: Cf. Hunger (1935,167): Ch. LXXI: CRISION = Trifolium pratense L.; D'Aronco (1998,53): Carduus spp. L., thistle, Distel. Van Arsdall (2000,179) adds: "The manuscript drawing does not look like clover (with its distinctive three leaves).“

    According to André (1985. s.v.): L CALTHA denotes Calendula officinalis L., or Glebionis coronaria L. but in OHG glosses it is often associated with names for clover (cf. Björkman 1901,227f.). Fischer (2001,287) seconds this identification. Brown (1969,459) explains: "The use of 'clover' for CALTHA may be explained by Pl (Förster 139/229; also Aelfric's glossary) CALTHA UEL TRIFILLON: clæfre. Cf. also OEG 1/94, Bouterwek 408/9, to Aldhelm 231/16 "CALTARUM": clæfre, -an".

    In HA XXV CAMEDRIS is translated with →heort-clǣfre, which denotes a clover species.

    FECTA is not clear; on UIOLA cf. note on Dur 334; CALCESTA = Trifolium album L. (cf. André 1964, s.v.).
