L NARDUS denotes several fragrant plants like Valeriana celtica L., Valeriana italica Lam., Lavandula angustifolia L., but the valuable nard (cf. HA 246/20: ele þe sy of nardo) was produced from the flowers of N. jatamansi (cf. Georges 2007, s.v. NARDUS).
