    Etymology: Lit. 'spear-burr, Speerklette'; the name refers to the towering pointed and spear-like florescence of the plant and its burr-like fruit (cf. Hegi 1906,IV,931f). Some NHG vernacular plant names compare the florescence to a pole, resp. a candle (cf. Marzell 2001,I,141).
