  • Comment on (A): Vicia cracca L., tufted vetch, Vogel-Wicke

It seems that the L lemmata are erroneous for L UICIUM, the writing error on the the preceding gloss PISSLI rsosan (? for peosan 'peas, Erbsen') could support this assumption. If OE →lēac is used in a common meaning it need not denote a leek species: fugleslēac could tenuously be equated with the OHG name of V. cracca, fogalchrut (cf. [fugles-bēan]). Recorded in the DOE, s.v. fugel.
