    Probably not a botanical term. Cf. Stracke (note on Laud 1499): "Edre, which does not appear to be a plant-name, may be æddre, 'vein', a reference to the anatomical connotatian of VENERIA, properly Gladdon, or Flag, Iris pseudacorus."
