    ANTIDOTUM = 'antidote, Gegengift'; CATHARTICUM, PURGATORIUM = 'purgative, Purgiermittel'; PICRA (to PICRIS 'bitter-wort, Bitterkraut') = 'a medicine made from aloe, eine Arznei aus Aloë'; a compound biterwyrtdrenc (cf. ClH) is hardly realistic. THERIACA = 'medicine against snake bite; Arzneimittel gegen Schlangenbiß'. Deegan notes (1988,236): "This is a purging medicine which may be given by mouth or as an enema. Wyrtdrenc glosses CATATICA I PUGATORIA, 'cathartic and purgative' in AElfric's glossary [WW2,114.30]."
