Is. 17,9,42: SATUREIA CALIDA ET PROPE IGNITA. VNDE ILLI [ET] NOMEN INDITUM CREDUNT, GUOD PRONOS FACIT IN VENEREM. 43: SATYRION DICTA A SATYRIS PROPTER INCENDIUM LIBIDINIS, QUAM VULGUS STINCUM VOCANT. VENEREM ENIM SUSCITAT.
Cf. Kindschi's note: "The gloss probably stands for sæþerige 'savory'." According to Kindschi the L lemma SATIRION (= Orchis L., orchid species, Knabenkraut) is related to Is. 17,9,431[1] and was probably regarded synonymous with the preceding SATUREIA, which is regarded an aphrodisiac, too; it is quite likely that the gloss was initially associated with SATUREIA.
