    L SAPA = 'boiled down, thick fruit juice; eingekochter, dicker Mostsaft'. Cf. Meritt (1954,140): "In the usual interpretation of SAPA, like that of Isidor [= Is. 20,3,15], there is no mentian of pear. The gloss perewos, however, corresponds exactly to the documented gloss SAPA: SUCUS PIRORUM (= AhdGl 1902,623,12).
