Identification based on Cockayne (1961,III,341); lit. oxna lyb means 'healing wort for oxen, Ochsenheilkraut' (cf. →lyb-corn) and can therefore be compared with ModE ox-heal, H. foetidus L. Cf. Britten / Holland (1886,364): "In English Oxeheele or Setterwoort, which names are taken from his vertues, in curing oxen and such like cattell.' Ger. 825." The gloss Dur 255: OLEOTROPIUS oxnalib UEL cothe-vyrt does not help with the identification (cf. Lindheim note on 255). Waldorf (1953, s.v.) erroneously records this plant name as a hapax legomenon.
