    Cf. Meritt (1954,34): "The glosses confuse ÆRUGO, 'rust' with ERUCA 'worm', especially a worm that eats leaves". This confusion is not unique to the OE psalter glosses: cf. Dief. s.v.: "ERUGO [...] krautwurm [...] rupe ł meletauwe".
