    Cf. Hunger (1935,167): LXIX: Breonia = Tamus communis L., black bryony, Schmerwurz; cf. the old names VITIS NIGRA = T. communis L. and VITIS ALBA = Bryonia alba L. (cf. Marzell 2000,I,683). Like Bryonia T. communis is a climbing plant.
