  • Comment on (A): Viburni opuli fructus, guelder-rose berries, Frucht des Gewöhnlichen Schneeballs

Cockayne (1961,III,333) bases his identification on DAN kvalke, V. opulus. L COLOCYNTHIS is synonymous with CUCURBITA AGRESTIS, which also denotes Bryonia L., bryony, Zaunrübe (Marzell 2000,1,684). The old names of bryony, VITIS ALBA, CLEMATIS, also denote other climbing plants like Clematis vitalba L. This allows us to establish a connection to Viburnum L., which shares the G name Schlingwinde with C. vitalba (old name VIBURNUM GALLORUM; cf. Marz. 1,1051).
