    According to André (1985, s.v. ARTEMISIA) ARTEMISIA T(R)AGANTES denotes T. vulgare.

    Etymology: According to Holthausen (1974, s.v.) of unknown origin. Maybe the plant name is related to the IGMC root ⁺kel- "in words for light and dark spots, in Worten für helle und dunkle Flecken" (cf. Pokorny 1989,I,547) referring to the bright flowers of the plant.

  • Comment on (B): ??? Artemisia dracunculus L., estragon, Estragon

    Hunger's identifikation 'A. dracunculus[1] (probably following Cockayne 1951,1,103) is wrong; also cf. the synonym recorded by Howald / Sigerist in the critical apparatus (11): CRISANTEMIS.[2]
