    For LB 31/4 we can conclude from the context that the lemma denotes 'draft, Treber' (cf. ClH s.v. dærst(e), dræst); eaqually in 22/4 and probably in 23/16, too. The occurrences in LA can only be translated with our meaning A. Banham (1990,93) defines grut as 'dry malt' or the 'husked grain before malting' in contrast to masc (also cf. Hagen 1995,213); Petitt (2001,1,232), on the other hand, translates "malt grains (after infusion for brewing)".
