    Cf. Meritt, A.: "STIPS, STIPIS is a variant form of STIPES, STIPITIS but whether the glossator meant 'stock' 'stem' by foge is doubtful. He seems to have had in mind STIPARE 'to press tagether'; cf. COMMISSURAM: gefog, WW 370,16 where the word means 'joint'"; also cf. s.v. →trēow-fēging.
