    On tara cf. LB 99/36: godne sciptaran. Deegan (1988,245) provides detailed information on this ingredient: "[…] the Greeks use pitch, scraped from the hulls of sea-going ships, and mixed with wax. This is more effective than other forms of pitch, because of the hardening effect of the sea-salt [HistNat. 16.56]".
