    Cf. Britten / Holland (1886,337): "M. viridis L., is known as Brown […] Garden […] or Spear Mint." OE tūn = 'garden, Garten'; also cf. the old L name MENTHA SATIVA for M. spicata (cf. Marzell 2000,III,164). BT (s.v. minte) do refer to tūn-minte, but the lemma is not listed; ClH does not record the plant name at all.
