    Not a botanical term. According to Ker the gloss belongs to Mt 3,4: MEL SILUESTRE[1]. The translation in BTC is probably based on ModE bike 'bees' nest, Bienenstock'; cf. OED, s.v. bike, sb. (first recording 1300).
