  • Comment on (A): ?? Inula conyzae (Griess.) Meikle, ploughman's-spikenard, Dürrwurz

Identification based on Cockayne (1961,II,413) and his reference to G Dürrwurz.

  • Comment on (B): ?? Pulicaria vulgaris Gärtn., small fleabane, Kleines Flohkraut.

Pollington (2000,122) suggests Inula pulicaria L. which is Pulicaria vulgaris Gärtn., small fleabane, Kleines Flohkraut. He seems to confuse both plants, Inula conyzae and P. vulgaris based on the G plant name Dürrwurz as mentioned by Cockayne. For P. vulgaris this G name is only recorded in the 18th century and s.v. Pulicaria dysenterica Bernh. Marzell (cf. 2000,III,1177) explicitly notes that G Dürrwurz is mostly attributed to I. conyzae because of its preferred habitat on dry ground, the Pulicaria species prefer a wet habitat.
