    Lit. 'sea dock, Meerampfer'; habitat: "einzeln oder scharenweise am Meeresstrande, auf Strandwiesen" (Hegi 1906,III,168). Banham (1990,244) suggests Rumex rupestris Le Gall, shore dock (native to the BI) providing a similar explanation.
