    BRUMELA = PRUNELLA 'sloe, Schlehe'; cf. Dief., s.v.: BRUMELLA = BRUNELLA = PRUNELLA brunwurtz, prawnwurtz, etc.; slehen, schlehen: cf. for example[1] AhdGl 3,197,40: PRUNELLE slehun. MORUS = 'mulberry Maulbeerbaum' (cf. →mōr-beam), MORUM = 'mulberry, Maulbeere, bramble Brombeere'.[2]

    BELLICUM is not recorded as a plant name anywhere and in Cp it is recorded among military terms[3], therefore I assume that this gloss (slag) is a corrupted flāh 'hostile, deceiving; feindlich, trügerisch' (cf. Cp 1089, Ep-Erf 510: INFESTUS flach), a gloss, which would match BELLICUS perfectly (cf. for example CGL 4,25,21: BELLICUS PUGNANDI CUPIDUS).

The reason for the error probably is the sequence of the preceding glosses in ClQu: 36,7: ALBA SPINA hægþorn; 8: QUISQUILIA hagan; 9: IMIGRA SPINA slagþorn; 10: MOROS slan. The glossator seems to have taken the second part of the lemma for the name of the fruits of the respective shrub but this is only likely for QUISQUILIA which really does denote the fruit of hægþorn (cf. hagu-þorn); the second instance certainly is a wrong conclusion of analogy.
