Judging from the context the lemma could be a plant name: nim thanne winberian coddes and galpania and anan and cnuca eall togadere; Cockayne (1961,III,312) suggests a writing error for hunan or arod, both plants have no other occurrences in the PD. Maybe the passage should be read as: nim thanne winberian, coddes 7 galpanan 7 cnuca (Löweneck resolves '7'). Cf. asg. galpanan (PD 43/6; for the L text cf. Löweneck 1896,44/4: GALBANUM), gsg. galpanan (PD 37/6; for the L text cf., Löweneck 1896,36/2: GALBANI). Asg. galpania seems also corrupted, because it only occurs once and has no resemblance in L GALBANUM or GALBANI. Our occurrence 27/13f has no L correspondent. Not recorded in the DOE.
