The gloss is probably not OE.[1] It is recorded in a section of the glossary labelled DE FRUGIBUS. On this basis Rusche (1996,682) argues for a possible botanical meaning: "the entry would not be in a capitulum with other plant names." The section starts 14 glosss earlier; but our gloss is not between botanical gosses. According to BTS (s.v. ǣd(d)er: 'a channel for fluids, vein') the gloss is not botanical. The DOE records this occurrence s.v. ǣder, ǣdre.
