    This plant is a well known antifebrile but the OE plant name can also denote other plants used for this indication, like C. umbellatum; also cf. Lindheim's note on Dur 164.

    This identification is approved for the HA, cf. Hunger (1935,167): Ch. XXXVI, CENTAURIA MINOR = C. umbellatum. Pettit (2001, CXXVII, 760) hesitantly notes a doubtful idenification for LA 177/22 by Chuckering (1971, 96), who bases his arguement on 'magical' indications (sympathetic power of the spear shaped seeds against færstice) and suggests that fēferfūge here denotes C. erythraea.
