Cf. Biggam (1997,114): BAISTA is a form of ML WAIDA (spelling-variants VAISDA; WAISDA); glasin represents Ir glaisean or L GLASTUM (cf. Diefenbach 1857, s.v.; André 1985,s.v.). In the DOE recorded s.v. glæsen, the suggested translation is 'grey / grey-eyed' (based on an original lemma GLAUCUS).
