    HA: L PERSONACIA and PROSOPIS[1] denote Arctium lappa L., greater burdock, Große Klette; only in HA XXXVII PERSONACIA is a synonym of OE bete. This erroneous translation might go back to the L model of the HA (cf. Howald and Sigerist 1927,36,24) where BETILOLEN is given as a Gallic synonym. De Virend (1984,297) doubts the identification B. vulgaris and refers to the illustrations, D'Aronco (1998,45) strongly supports this, she states: "The identification of the plant called PERSONACIA [...] is much discussed, but is generally identified as Arctium lappa L.".
