    According to Biggam (1998,141) this name can refer to any kind of willow, which are a very varied genus (cf. Clapham 1962, 581f.). Biggam also dismisses Eckwall's identification of hara wiþig as Sorbus aria (L.) Crantz, whitebeam, Gewöhnliche Mehlbeere.
